Teen Pregnancy and Childbearing

Bella Larby Adolescent pregnancy statistically results in teen mothers not completing high school, relying on public assistance to support themselves and their children and falling into poverty as adults. Teen pregnancy costs millions of dollars from United States taxpayers in order to support public assistance programs, public health care, foster car and juvenile justice services. The children of adolescent mothers often have less fortunate educational outcomes as a result of their situation. While these problems are statistically relevant, the rate of teen births has declined significantly in the United States since the 1990s.
