Neutral Ground

Neutral Ground, Street-Level's Multimedia Center in Humbolt Park, offers after-school and summer programs to youth ages 8-22. Street-Level offers various media production workshops. The workshops are scheduled on different days of the week throughout the school year. All programs and workshops are free of charge.

Youth register for workshops on the first day of class.

Digital Fusion
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4-7pm

The Digital Fusion is a 10-week apprenticeship program that challenges youth age 14 to 19 to push their artistic practices in an intensive course of individual and collaborative art making. For more information on how to apply or to download the application visit our Digital Fusion page.

Musicology
Tuesdays: 4-7pm
Instructor: Tristan Tucker

In Musicology workshops, students learn to use computer-based music software to compose original songs. Youth learn the fundamentals of songwriting, recording and microphone techniques, and are encouraged to write and record lyrics dealing with their everyday lives.

Sounding Point
Thursdays: 4-7pm
Instructors: Andrei Heward-Mills

Join Sounding Point and become exposed to a brand new world of broadcast audio production. You will learn the skills necessary to be an on-air radio personality, sports reporter, music jock, news reporter, entertainment reporter, or cultural critic. We will teach you how to deliver good oral presentations, research news stories, interview
guests, and produce audio content for broadcast. Completed Sounding Point projects will be developed into podcasts and distributed on the internet.

 

Workshop Enrollment: Youth are accepted into workshops on an ongoing basis although some workshops may reach capacity and be closed to new enrollees.
