Neutral Ground

Neutral Ground, Street-Level's Multimedia Center in West Town, offers after-school and summer programs to youth ages 8-22. The Center is open during the school year on weekdays between 2pm and 7pm, and 12pm - 5pm in the summer. In addition to to our homework help and open access program, Street-Level offers various media production workshops. The workshops are scheduled on different days of the week throughout the school year. All programs and workshops are free of charge.

Female Action Voicing Change (FAVC)-Multimedia

Mondays: 4pm - 6pm

Instructor: Heather Jurewicz

Female Action Voicing change is an all girls, multi-media making workshop, discussion group and forum for social change. Come voice your opinion through video, music, spoken word or graphic art. Create change as you create art. (for girls ages 13-18)

Get On My Level-Graphic & Web Design

Tuesdays: 4pm - 7pm
Thursday: 4pm - 7pm


Instructors: Steve Evans & Andy Roche

Tell your side of the story on the issues that matter to you using digital still images. You'll learn Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign-- graphic design tools the pros use to make images and layouts for posters, magazines, and the Web.

Sounding Point-Radio Production

Tuesdays: 5pm -7pm
Thursdays: 5pm- 7pm

Instructors: Andrei Heward-Mills

Learn the ins and outs of the world of broadcast audio. Youth will produce radio segments and conduct interviews on topics of interest from music, politics, school, movies etc. and have the opportunity to hear themselves on the radio as well as on the web. Whether you are an aspiring DJ or a budding reporter this workshop is for you.

Musicology 101/102/103-Audio Production

Wednesdays, Musicology 101: 4pm - 5pm
Fridays, Musicology 102: 5pm- 7pm

101 Beginning Audio Production / Musicology

Instructor: Chris Lee

Learn recording techniques, beat making and song writing! Instructor Chris Lee will teach you the basics of music production, music theory and artistry. Come join our group of socially conscious youth artists. No experience necessary.

102 Intermediate Audio Production / Musicology

Instructor: Chris Lee

Study the art of audio editing, sequencing and arranging techniques.
Create solo and group pieces using professional music software in our editing studio.  

103 Advanced Audio Production / Musicology

Instructor: Chris Lee & Sean Owens

 Work with guest artists and study advanced songwriting, mixing and recording techniques. Travel to local recording studios for professional training and performance opportunities.



Workshop Enrollment: Youth are accepted into workshops on an ongoing basis although some workshops may reach capacity and be closed to new enrollees.
