Summer programs start July 6th

Spring Hours:
Monday-Thursday
1-6pm

Summer workshops begin on Tuesday, July 6 and run for eight weeks until Friday, August 27.

Street-Level has a jam-packed line-up of summer programs for youth. We have two workshops a day from Monday to Thursday available for any youth ages 8-22. All workshops are provided free of charge. Everyday we provide open studio time for youth enrolled in workshops from 12pm to 1pm and from 12pm to 3pm on Fridays.

To register for workshops youth can fill and return this on-line form on the first day of class.

Youth Attend Allied Media Conference

Street-Level just returned from the annual Allied Media Conference in Detroit. While there, Street-Level presented a workshop on music production and beat-making and was featured in their culminating performance showcase. On the way back to Chicago, the group stopped off at the Motown Historical Museum.

Raw Voices

Chris Lee won the Timothy J. Densmore Hall of Fame Award for instructor of the year.

Youth and staff from Street-Level were awarded five prizes for achievement in digital media at this year's Raw Voices Youth Media Arts Festival. Awardees included:

 

Outstanding Music Video/Documentary/Short:
"Life Through My Eyes" Marie De Luna

Achievement in Personal Story Telling or Original Music:
"What's Wrong With Me?" by youth from Big Picture

Achievement in Photo-Journalism:
"Redefining Work" by Diana Martinez

Achievement in Experimental Photography:
"Dreams Come True" by Elliot Velez

Timothy J. Densmore Hall of Fame:
Christopher Lee, Media Instructor

Youth perform and screen videos at Underground Library

Street-Level participated in the second Loud Library event at the Underground Library on May 11th. Natasha O'Connor, a Street-Level participant, performed original songs and a handful of videos produced over the last year were screened.

We'd love to send a big shout out and a thank you to the Underground Library for hosting the event.
